What are the Louisiana Concealed Carry Eligibility Requirements?
To obtain a Concealed Handgun Permit you must apply with the Louisiana State Police >
To qualify, you must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Be a Louisiana resident
- Complete any firearms training or safety class approved by the Department of Public Safety within the preceding twelve months, including the demonstration of competence with a handgun.

Where are classes typically held?
Classes are usually held in Metairie at least once per month. The exact location information and times will be sent to you via Email once you have registered and paid for the class.
How long is the class?
The concealed handgun permit class is 9 hours as mandated by the Louisiana State Police.
Are there any additional costs for the concealed carry class?
Yes, $35 for two (2) digital FBI fingerprint cards which are done during the class. This is handled via Y-Not-Check, LLC a certified third party service.
Range fee is approximately $16.50 due upon arrival at the shooting range. This includes lane usage, B27 target, as well as ear and eye protection.

What should I bring with me to the class?
A handgun and at least 36 rounds of ammunition.
What if I don’t own a gun?
If you do not own a handgun, don’t purchase one just for the class as information provided during the class may impact your decision on what to buy. Additionally, handguns are available to rent at the range.
